About Zachary

Zachary was diagnosed in November of 2006 with Neuroblastoma. At age 2, he has a fight for life in front of him. Currently he has undergone 8 rounds of Chemotherapy, Tumor Removal Surgery, Double Bone Marrow Transplants and Radiation Therapy. Currently, Zach is in New York City undergoing immunotherapy at Sloan Kettering Hospital a children’s cancer institute who specialize in Neuroblastoma Cancer. A softball size mass was removed from his right chest cavity and due to the size of the tumor, the surgeon had to take part of a nerve that was growing in the middle of the tumor. With a portion of that nerve gone, Zachary now has "Horner’s Syndrome".

Zachary is a tough little boy. He is only 3 and fighting strong. He was a normal little boy until one day he woke up limping. The family took him to the hospital where they told them nothing was wrong. They then went to the ER that same night where they said he was anemic. The next day, they were off to his regular doctor for more lab tests, just to be sure. All of the sudden their lives were turned upside down, just in the blink of an eye. The family received a phone call from their doctor asking them to bring Zach in for observation and hospitalization as soon as possible.

Zachary has an identical twin brother and older sister. As the family travels to Utah and New York, they will have to manage two households as well as Zachary’s treatment and try to keep their lives and family together as normal as they can. This is going to be the hardest thing the family has ever had to do.
